Welcome to the Childhood Deafness Research Network
I am delighted to write the very first blog for our new Childhood Deafness Research Network. We even have a cool logo – designed by Emma Clements – so it’s definitely official!

In fact, our logo captures the essence of what we hope to achieve as a network: bringing people together to begin answering the top 10 research questions about childhood deafness. There is a lot of work to do as we have not one but two priority lists to work from (different to most other research priority setting exercises): one from adults and one from children.
Our wonderful steering group of parents, deaf young people, and health and education professionals have guided our research priority partnership so well over the past two years. They now form the foundation of the network and we would like to invite others to join.
Our aim is that the network will build communication, partnerships and projects between people with lived experience, professionals and researchers. So if you have an interest in childhood deafness research, in whatever capacity, please contact us via the email address to be added to the mailing list. We are still planning how the network will work and hope to have our first meeting in Autumn 2025. We would love to hear from you.
Ultimately we hope this network gives real momentum to childhood deafness research and most importantly leads to the questions being explored and answered. I’m already looking forward to writing a future blog post where I can look back on how the research landscape has changed and celebrate the number of new projects that are underway.
